Stan D. Orr, CAE, a professional association manager with nearly 20 years of success in managing nonprofit organizations, first enjoyed positions that enabled him to help individuals. After earning his BS in Education through the University of Central Oklahoma , Mr. Orr served on Oklahoma ’s gubernatorial staff under then Governor David Boren.

Later, as a classroom teacher who truly believed in the value of mentoring, he served as a volunteer in a teacher’s association; an experience that drove his interest and commitment to the philosophy of association management that he carries today.

Upon his departure from public education, Mr. Orr joined the staff of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Oklahoma , where he served as Education Director and Executive Director, before carrying out the same duties for the larger market of ABC of Southern California.

He later returned to Oklahoma , taking on the position of Executive Director for the Oklahoma Association of Realtors and the National Association of Legal Secretaries. Both organizations substantially increased his responsibilities due to their large membership bases and educational needs. During his tenure with these organizations, he distinguished himself and the organizations with numerous ASAE awards and honors for education, membership development and communications.

Turning his energy and commitment to non-profit organizations, Mr. Orr served as president of the Oklahoma Society of Association Executives in 1992, and is credited with founding that organization’s education foundation.  In 1993 he was recognized as Oklahoma ’s Association Executive of the Year. 

Mr. Orr is a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and the Colorado Society of Association Executives (CSAE).  In 1991 he earned the Certified Association Executive Designation (CAE) from ASAE, and in 1994 was inducted into the prestigious Fellows of ASAE.

In 1995 he founded NonProfit Resources, an association management company that currently represents several national and international trade associations. Believing there are creative solutions to the issues facing today’s global associations, Mr. Orr’s peers describe him as someone who is “totally fearless” when it comes to thinking outside the box.
